Recipes -Sunburn
Not
only can sunburn be very painful but it can ruin the rest of
your holiday.
Blend 6 drops
of Peppermint
oil with 4 drops of Lavender
oil.
Apply the
blended oils directly to small and specific patches of
sunburn. Peppermint oil is very cooling and Lavender is
very soothing to the skin. For large areas of sunburn the
blend of essences should be diluted [ratio: 5ml of
essence to 1 litre of water].
You can also
add the Peppermint oil or Lavender oil to a base of
Aloe Vera
gel. This is a wonderful remedy that will
take the sting out of the burn while soothing and cooling
the skin.
If you don't
have Peppermint oil or Lavender oil to hand then
Tea Tree
oil is an excellent
alternative.
Note:
Un-diluted essential
oils may be used to treat individual spots but only
Lavender oil and Tea Tree oil may be applied un-diluted
to larger skin areas. [Neat Tea Tree oil does not suit
everyone's skin].
Aromatherapy Recipes
- Athlete’s
Foot
Athlete’s foot is a
common complaint these days. You can apply Tea Tree oil directly
to the infected areas for immediate relief. Lavender oil is another
essential oil that is beneficial in the treatment of
Athlete’s foot. Like Tea Tree oil, Lavender oil may be
applied directly to the skin.
If you are
concerned about applying neat essential oils to your skin
you can prepare a relaxing foot bath. Add three drops of
Lavender
oil and two drops of Tea Tree oil to a bowl of hot
water. This will provide a wonderful, soothing remedy for
Athlete’s foot. Soak your feet in this solution for at
least twenty minutes to achieve maximum
benefits.
An
alternative mixture is to add 20 drops of Geranium oil to hot
water and soak your feet for at least 20
minutes.
If the
condition does not improve or continues to spread you may
need to seek medical treatment from a
doctor.

6 drops

oil

Recipes - Muscular
and Back Pain
A
great massage oil for
back pain and similar ailments may be made simply by
blending:
2 drops
of Eucalyptus
oil
2 drops
of Lavender
oil
1 drop of
Lemon
oil
with 1 ounce
of carrier oil. We would recommend that you use
Jojoba oil
in this instance.
We tend to
associate heat with treating muscular pain so you can
heat your massage oil blend before using it. You can heat
it by putting the oil in an amber colored jar, then
placing it in a bowl of hot water.
Don’t use a
microwave. The massage oil may be too hot and burn during
the massage session. By treating back pain with massage
and aromatherapy, you can successfully manage and treat
the pain at its source.
