Use An
Aromatherapy Moisturizing Lotion During The Winter
Months
During the winter
months is when you need to take extra care of your skin. It is
important to drink plenty of water during the winter months, to
keep the skin hydrated from the inside as well as the
outside. Also, it is important to apply a good
lotion to maintain your skin’s moisture during the winter.
Winter can be very drying and harsh to the
skin.
Your face and hands
are most affected during the winter. Dry, peeling, and chapped
skin caused by both sharp winds outside and artificial heating
inside. Dry skin is not only irritating, but can be quite
painful. Sometimes chapped skin can become a source of
irritation.
The use of
Aromatherapy can be very beneficial in keeping the skin
moisturized during the harsh winter months.
Aromatherapy Recipe for restoring
moisture to your skin
If you find that your
skin is drying during the winter months use:
1 fluid ounce of
a carrier oil, (Sweet
Almondor Sunflower
Oilare good
choices)
add 2 drops of
Patchouli
Oil
2 drops of
Sandalwood
oil, and
2 drops of
Myrrh
Moisturizing Bath
Oil
After blending
together, add this special oil to your bath water, or apply as
a lotion. You can also it as a massage oil. To feel and enjoy
its full effective, pour it into an amber colored bottle and
then heat the bottle in a bowl of hot water [not boiling]. This
oil will help restore moisture and you may find the scent
intoxicating. It is a wonderfully rejuvenating and refreshing
treat for your entire body.
You can also make
your own personal bath oil by adding essential oils to a
carrier oil. The function of a carrier oil is to dilute the
potency of the essential oil before it comes in contact with
your skin. There are a number of good carrier oils such as:
Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Macadamia Oil,
and Sunflower
Oil.
Creating your own
recipes for bath oils, body lotions, and face creams is just
one of the many ways you can enjoy Aromatherapy. You can make
lotions and creams by adding essential oils to your favorite
ready made creams and lotions that you have purchased, or you
can make your own lotion and cream bases. You can also find
lotion and cream bases available in health food stores. You
just simply choose the essential oil that you prefer and add it
to your base cream, creating your own individual
cream.
Aromatherapy Skin
Care
Be aware of the
affect the elements have on your skin and be sure to take
common sense precautions to protect your skin from outside
elements. Always cover your face when going outside for
extended periods of time. This may be simply pulling your scarf
up over your face.
Autumn and winter are
beautiful times of the year, and there is no reason why your
skin has to suffer and lose its beauty during these
months.
For late winter
nights, you may want to curl up in front of a log fire and
relax with a good book and a nice cup of Chamomile
tea. Chamomile is very relaxing and
will help take the chill off those cold winter
nights.
